Soy Sauce Fried Egg

A crispy edged fried egg with a smoky salty bite.

Soy Sauce Fried Egg

Serves 2

Simple side dish with a bowl of rice or topping fried rice. As the soy sauce caramelizes the flavor becomes richer and smoother due to the butter.

Ingredients

2 large eggs

1 T butter

2 t soy sauce

Recipe Know-how

1.      Over a medium-high, heat the butter in a small non-stick pan.

  • Crack eggs evenly spaced into pan.

  • Cook 2 - 3 minutes or until the whites are almost set.

  • Drizzle soy sauce around edges of eggs shaking the pan to distribute liquid. Cook 1 minute longer or until whites are fully set, soy has caramelized and edges of egg are crispy.

These cooking times yield an over easy yolk. For a more well-cooked egg, cook longer.

2.      Serve.
