Welcome to CocoBeanCountry

Join me on a journey of food.

Hi everyone! My name is Corinn. Welcome to this space!

Through this website, I want to share with you my passion for food. My goal is for everyone who visits to become interested in regularly cooking at home and seeing food as an experience rather than a chore. Cooking is one of the most therapeutic things on the planet. There is something soothing about the meticulousness that comes with prepping or the kneading of dough that isn’t replicated anywhere else. Why do you think people love to watch others cook? It’s because it’s relaxing!! But why not get yourself involved as well, become the person you are watching and reap the rewards of a meal afterward.

A my Busan neighborhood.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised on Long Island where bagels, pizza, and BEC are necessary food groups for survival. I currently live in Busan, South Korea with my husband. If there is one thing, I took away from being raised a New Yorker, it is diversity and acceptance. I have taken that knowledge and seen the greatest application of it in my food. Not just cooking the food of different cultures, but, understanding the culture and how it affects the food being prepared. This mindset is what I believe makes my philosophy on food approachable. What is my food philosophy you may ask? It is something I heard once and realized immediately encompassed everything I feel about food, “food is a cornerstone of happiness”. So, no matter what anyone says in the end, we may have different cultures and see food differently but, if we take the time to look past our differences through the lens of something as vital and all-encompassing as food, we can better see our similarities, making the world a happier place. The recipes here reflect the food I like to cook and not that of one culture. As a child, I was always intrigued by the food cultures of Asia. I have nurtured that as I grew with those flavors and ideas becoming an integral part of my personal food experience and will definitely be reflected in many of the recipes here. I want everyone who visits to step out of their food comfort zones a little to attempt to replicate flavors from somewhere they may have never been.

Every Thursday there will be a new recipe posted here for you to enjoy. In order to focus on the food, this website will mainly be a collection of recipes rather than a blog. Each recipe is about inspiring readers to get into the kitchen and try something new. Don’t ever hesitate to change an ingredient amount or add something you like to make the dish your own!! Along with this website, you can follow me on Instagram @cocobeancountry for website post updates and more food and travel fun. If you want to make a recipe suggestion or have a request, you can leave it in the comment section below.
